Pending Board approval at the May 26, 2026, Board of Education meeting, the Fairfield Local Board of Education intends to name Mr. Matthew Murphy as the next superintendent of Fairfield Local Schools beginning August 1, 2026.
Mr. Murphy currently serves as the middle school principal at Huntington Local Schools and brings more than 26 years of educational experience to the Fairfield Lion Family. Throughout the interview process, the Board was impressed by his passion for students, leadership, relationship-building, and commitment to community.
“Throughout the interview process, Mr. Murphy demonstrated a genuine passion for students, strong leadership skills, and a deep understanding of the importance of relationships within a school community,” said Ron Friend, President of the Fairfield Local Board of Education. “We believe he is someone who will continue to build on the great things happening at Fairfield while helping lead our district into the future.”
“We are excited to welcome Mr. Murphy and look forward to his leadership as he continues building on the strong foundation already in place throughout our district,” shared Mrs. McIntosh, Vice President of the Fairfield Local Board of Education.

Fairfield Local Schools is excited to announce the opening of Leesburg Family Medicine! This new School-Based Health Center is located right on our campus, with care provided by Julie Roush, APRN-CNP, a board-certified Family Nurse Practitioner.
The School-Based Health Center is part of Highland Health Providers’ ongoing commitment to removing barriers to care and improving community wellness. By offering primary care services directly on our school campus, HHP aims to help students stay healthy, reduce time away from the classroom, and support families with accessible, local healthcare options.
