Basketball Clinic

bbThe Fairfield High School basketball coaches are holding a basketball clinic for boys and girls in Grades 3 through 6 on Sunday, November 18th from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM in the high school and middle school gyms.  The high school coaches have also arranged for AAU leaders and a former Ohio State University basketball player to help with the clinic.  This clinic is for Fairfield students ONLY.

MtNovember 17, beginning at 5:00, the Fairfield Athletic Boosters will be hosting their 6th annual winter Meet the Teams Night. This fundraiser will not only include a pork dinner, but it will also be a time to enjoy an evening of meeting the winter sports teams.  Please come out and support our student athletes!

Our Varsity Lady Lion Volleyball team will be playing in the Sectional final tournament game this Saturday, October 20th.  The game is home and starts at 4pm.  Admission is $5.00 per person.  No athletic passes will be accepted.

Gold VBallOur varsity volleyball team is currently undefeated in the SHAC League! On Tuesday, October 9th, the ladies will be playing for the "GOLD BALL" for the first time in school history! We will also honor our seniors and our JH teams between the JV and Varsity games. To celebrate, we are having a RED OUT and all students will get into the game FREE!!  Please come out and support our lady lions!  JV game begins at 5pm.

The first matches begin Friday, October 5th with the 7th grade teams at 5pm.

Senior Golf

GolfSenior Rachel Schuler represented the Lady Lions Golf Team yesterday (10/2) in the District Golf Match held at Pickaway Country Club in Circleville, Ohio.  Although she did not finish at the top, we are so proud of her accomplishments!

VballTwo Lady Lions have achieved great success already this volleyball season!  Kami Magee obtained her 500th career assist and Lauren Arnold obtained her 500th career dig!!  Both girls are seniors on the Lady Lion volleyball team.  So far this year, the team is undefeated in SHAC League play.  All three seniors on the team (Kami, Lauren and Kaiti White) will be honored at Senior Night on Tueday, October 9th between the JV and Varsity games.

Soccer Cancelled

SOCCER GAMES CANCELLED -- The soccer games scheduled to be played today at Williamsburg HS have been cancelled.  The girls' game has been rescheduled to Thursday (9/27) at 5pm.  The boys' game will not be rescheduled.  The games that were cancelled Monday (at home against Blanchester) are rescheduled to October 1st at home.

V4CThe annual Volley for a Cure volleyball game will be held Thursday, September 27th at home vs. Whiteoak.  There will be a bake sale throughout the evening and baskets will be auctions off between the JV and Varsity games.  FMS student Lucas Craycraft will be our auctioneer!!  T-Shirts are on sale now & must be turned into HS office by Thursday, Sept. 13th.  Click here for order form!!  (Make checks payable to Fairfield Athletic Boosters.)  Please plan to come out and support this important cause!

Car WashThis Saturday, April 21st, the 6th grade class will hold a Car Wash fundraiser.  Money raised will help pay the cost for Camp Joy so every 6th grade student can attend.  Come get your car washed in the HS bus circle from 10am to 2pm.  There is no set price.... just make a donation to this important annual event.

CheerleaderCheerleading and Mascot tryouts for the 2018-19 school year will take place in April.  Tryouts are for students currently in grades 6th - 11th.  All interested students need to pick up a Try-Out Packet in the Middle or High School Office.  There is also an "open gym" scheduled for Wednesday, March 21st from 7:30-9pm for anyone wanting more information or getting tips on preparing for your tryout.  Cheer clinic dates and additional information is in the Cheer Tryout Packet.

BOWLING OPPORTUNITY FOR HS STUDENTS

BowlingAny high school student interested in trying out for the Fairfield High School bowling team this year is welcome to attend a high school bowling league sponsored by Highland Lanes.  This league begins tomorrow morning (Sat. 9/16) at 10am at Highland Lanes.  The cost is $8 each week and includes the use of a ball and shoes.  The league begins tomorrow morning and runs each Saturday through the end of October.  Any questions can be answered by calling Highland Lanes.  NOTE:  We apologize for the late notice of this event.  Information was just received.

Elementary and HS student report cards are available for pickup in the offices from 7:30am-3pm through June 9th. After June 9th, HS report cards will be mailed home.  Elementary report cards can be picked up in the District Office after June 9th.   If you owe school fees, lunch charges, need to return textbooks or sports uniforms, report cards will be held until all obligations are met.

Senior report cards and pictures that Downtown Photography took before the graduation ceremony are available for pick up in the HS office until June 9th. After June 9th, they can be picked up in the District Office between 8am-3pm.

The HS girls basketball game at Paint Valley has been rescheduled to Wed. January 25th at 5:30pm.

 

 

Fairfield FFA is collecting coins for thier annual "Adopt a Christmas Child" fundraiser. Since 2012, this program has raised over $8,000 and helped 12 families and 8 individual children in our Fairfield community. Donations have also been made to Children's Hospital ($1,000) and Crop Church World Services ($500).

So far this year, $1,408.47 has been collected from our students!! Money will be counted one last time on December 2nd. Students are encouraged to bring their spare change (or dollars!) to homeroom. The goal is to help at least 3 local families this year.   Thank you for helping reach this goal!!

 

Today, at approximately 9:10am, Fairfield Local Schools conducted a simulated lockdown and evacuation.  Local police, fire and paramedics were on site to assist with this drill.

ATTENTION:  While on a field trip today (Friday, Oct. 14), our junior class was stopped at a restaurant in Hillsboro when they witnessed the Hillsboro Police Department apprehend a man behind the school bus.  The chaperones and bus driver followed proper protocol and all students were moved into the restaurant(s) quickly and effectively. Although the students saw this take place, no student or adult with our group was harmed during this incident. 

This Wednesday's (9/28) JH Volleyball game against Lynchburg is HOME and not at Lynchburg as the schedule indicates.  7th grade starts at 5pm with 8th immediately following.  Please come support our JH Volleyball Teams!!

Meet the School Board Candidates
On October 22 at 7:00 pm in the auditeria, the seven individuals who have petitioned to be a School Board member were invited to attend this public session.  They will be given the opportunity to introduce themselves and list their qualifications. They will also field questions generated by the HS Government class and those in attendance. With only three spots open on the School Board, it is important to hear all of these candidate's plans for our school's future.  This event is sponsored by the Fairfield Education Association.  The Fairfield community is encouraged to attend.

 

10/12/15 -- This morning at approximately 8:30am, Fairfield Local School's fire alarm was activated by the exhaust of a construction vehicle working close to the existing building.  This occured during MS/HS class change, as well as when Elementary students were being dropped off and buses were unloading.  Our staff was quick to respond to this "drill" and all protocol was followed effectively.  Thank you to all of the Fairfield faculty and the local first responders for their immediate action today.

Fairfield Local School District will be purging Special Education records beginning December 1, 2015.  Individuals with a graduation date prior to June 1, 2008 and who received Specialized Programming and/or related services wishing to obtain copies of Special Education files, should contact Tom Dean, Assistant Principal, Fairfield Local Schools, (937) 780-2977, no later than November 30, 2015.  After this date, only the last completed/develolped Evaluation Team Report (ETR) and Individualized Education Plan (IEP) will be available.

THE STATE XC MEET HAS BEEN RESCHEDULED TO SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 10th.  The boys' team will run at 11am and Ciara will run at 1:30pm.  The race is held at National Trails Raceway in Hebron, Ohio.

Due to Veteran's Day events already planned, the PEP RALLY will be held Friday, Nov. 9th at 9am in the HS gym. There will be no send-off for the team (only the pep rally).  Everyone is invited to attend!!

Lion Face Tickets for the Varsity Girls Basketball Tournament game are on sale in the high school office.  Tickets are $5 each.  The game is February 16 with an  8:00 pm start time at Northwest High School against Clay.

The Jostens representatives will be at the school on February 8th, 7:00 a.m.-8:00 a.m. in the auditeria to collect and process orders for class rings.  There are packets in the office for anyone interested in purchasing a class ring from Jostens  at this time.

 

Wear RED At this Friday's home boys' basketball game, we will be honoring our military servicemen and women.  We are selling red "Supporting our Troops" tshirts to wear to the game.  Shirts are available in the HS or AD office for $10.00.  There are a limited number of shirts available in sizes small through 2XL.  Checks should be made payable to Fairfield Athletic Boosters.  Everyone is encouraged to wear red, white and blue this Friday.
The boys take on West Union with the Freshmen tipping off at 4:30pm.

 

Gold Star REMINDER...The Freshman Class will be serving a Gold Star chili spaghetti dinner tomorrow, January 14th.  The dinner will start during the freshman game at 5pm.  Cost is $5 and includes chili spaghetti, dessert and drink.  Please support our Freshman students!

Our HS Girls and Boys Cross Country Teams run this Saturday, October 29th in the Regional Championship Meet.  The boys' race starts at 11am and the girls' begin at 1:30pm.  The meet is held at Pickerington North High School.  Come out and support our teams!!

 

The HS Volleyball Team will be hosting "Volley for the Cure" this Monday, October 10th against the Peebles Indians.  The JV game will begin at 5pm with the Varsity following.  There will be a silent auction, bake sale, shirt toss, pink-out costume contest and split the pot.  All cancer fighters and survivors will be recognized. Keep Out The track/soccer complex will be closed from Monday, August 14th through Sunday,
August 27th.  During this time, the entire track will be resurfaced and re-lined.  Please
help spread the word to anyone in the community you may know who has been using
the track. NO ONE is to be on the complex with one exception - the boys' soccer game
scheduled for August 22nd will still be played on the soccer field.

Senior Braden Heizer won the rotary club speech contest held Tuesday, February 28th. He competed against two other students from Highland County (Hillsboro HS student and Hillsboro Christian Academy student). Braden received a check for $300 and will advance to the district contest at Wright State University on 4/2.

Basketball The Middle School Basketball Teams will be honored at the HS boys game on January 31st.  Both boys and girls 7th & 8th grade teams will be introduced between the JV and Varstiy games.  MS players will receive free admission to the game.

 

Cheerleader Also, this Friday, January 20th is Pee Wee Cheer Night at the boys' home game against West Union!!  Grades K, 1 and 2 will perform during halftime of the JV game.  During halftime of varisty, the 3, 4, 5 and 6 grade will perform.

 

School Board Meeting The Fairfield Local School Board will hold their annual Organizational Meeting Wednesday, January 11th at 3:30pm in the District Office Conference Room.  This meeting will be followed by the annual Budget Hearing at 3:45pm and the Regular January Meeting at 4pm.  The public is invited to attend.

 

NHS The Fairfield High School National Honor Society Induction ceremony is scheduled for this Friday, December 9th at 1:45 pm in the auditeria.  Parents and family members are invited to attend.  Refreshments will be served following.

Basketball Games

Basketball HoopThe Boys' HS Basketball games at Hillsboro scheduled for Monday, February 5th have been RESCHEDULED to Thursday, February 15th.  Freshmen will begin at 4:30pm.

Report Cards

Report Card    
Due to snow days, Middle School and High School Report Cards for the 2nd Quarter will be sent home next Tuesday, January 23rd. Third and Fourth will be sent home as scheduled tomorrow (Fri. Jan. 19th).  The Middle School Awards Ceremony has been changed to Monday, January 29th at 8:45am.

R&L Scholarship

R&LR&L Carriers will be awarding a $1,000 Scholarship to a FHS senior who will be attending college in the fall of 2018.  This will be awarded during the home boys' basketball game on 1/12/18.  Click on the "Read More" for more information and the application.

Nurse REMINDER:  Students entering 7th or 12th grades next school year must have the required vaccinations prior to the first day of school.  Letters were sent home with students.  If you have any questions, please contact Megan Abbott at 937-780-2966.

 

Flowers The Fairfield FFA is holding its annual Flower and Plant Sale!!  Flowers, hanging baskets and vegetable plants are on sale now through the end of school.

Lion Reading The Elementary will be celebrating "Lions on Literacy" (LOL) Night Wednesday, February 15th from 6:30-8pm.  LOL Night is an evening centered around reading.

 

Softball The 2016 Boys Cross Country Team and the 2016 Girls Softball Team will be honored at the HS boys game on February 1st.  They will be introduced between the JV and Varstiy games.  Team members will receive free admission to the game.

Red Ribbon Fairfield students win the "Write in Red" essay contest sponsored by the ADAMH Board during Red Ribbon Week. 

 

    So far this year, Fairfield Elementary has redeemed almost 10,000 Box
    Tops!!!  That's nearly $1,000!!! Let's try to double that number!!

USED COMPUTERS FOR SALE
The district has several used Dell GX240 computers for sale at $50 each.  They are available to the public on a first come-first serve basis and will be sold as is.
Fruit Sales

FFAThe annual FFA Fruit Sales is now going on!!  This year, along with the usual fruit items, the students will be selling DB Yummers BBQ sauce, Jack Link's Beef Jerky, Local Honey, Poinsettias, Pallet Christmas Trees and (new this year)... Flu Season

Cole and Flu SeasonIn order to keep the flu or illnesses from spreading to a minimum, please remember to keep your child home for the following:

 -- vomiting and diarrhea within the last 24 hours

 -- a fever of 100 or higher at anytime within the last 24 hours

 -- being treated for strep throat and has not been on antibiotics for 24 hours

 -- a lasting cough with fever and body aches

Baseball Softball Tournament Brackets for 2017 Varsity Baseball and Softball are posted on the Athletic's Page of our website. 

 

Dentist The annual MOBILE DENTIST is scheduled for Friday, May 5th.  All students in grades K-4 will be bringing home permission slips.  If any students in grades 5-12 would like to participate, please contact the school nurse at 937-780-2988.
 

 

Basketball Girls Our Varsity Lady Lions Basketball Team got the #4 seed for tournament play.  Their first game is against Clay Thursday, February 16th at 8pm at Northwest (McDermott) High School.  

 

Hat The Indoor Track Team and JV Girls Basketball Team are selling black/red pom-pom embroidered beanies!  They are $12 each.  Money and order form are due to Mrs. Mangus or Mrs. Kesia McCoy by Thursday, January 19th.

Hour of Code initiative during Computer Science Education Week (Dec 5-9).

New Requirements for Sports Physicals

Effective immediately, the Ohio High School Athletic Association (OHSAA) has adopted the "e-PPE" (Electronic Pre-Participation Evaluation).  This web-based program replaces the paper physical form. 
 

STUDENT ACCIDENT INSURANCE is offered through Fairfield Local Schools for those students not covered under other insurance plans. Visit our Parent & Community Resources Page for a link to the information.

ES/MS Yearbooks

Yearbook Order Time     
The Elementary and Middle School Yearbooks will be on sale starting January 29th.  Cost is $15 each. All students in grades K-8 will be given an order envelope.  The yearbooks will be on sale until March 2nd. 

Golf Ball The Annual Fairfield Lion Golf Open is scheduled for Saturday, August 19th at Buckeye Hills Country Club in Greenfield.  Look for more informaiton at a later date!

 

Volunteers Needed Fairfield Elementary needs YOUR help with two upcoming events...SuperGames on May 16 and the Book Fair from May 3-5.  Both events are during school hours.  Parents or grandparents may volunteer by contacting their student's homeroom teacher or by calling the elementary office at 937-780-2988.  THANK YOU!!
