Update from Superintendent re: Emergency Health Protocols

If 20% or more of the students in any building are absent due to illness we will implement a face covering requirement for the next 10 school days.

If after those 10 days are up and student absence is still at or above 20% we will move to remote learning for 10 school days.

If after 10 days in remote learning our student absence rate due to illness is still at or above 20% the board will hold a special meeting to discuss next steps.

Also, if 5% of the students in any building are positive with COVID we will implement a district face covering requirement for the next 10 school days.

If after those 10 days our student COVID positivity rate is still 5% or higher, the face covering requirement will remain in effect until the positivity rate drops below 5%.

The short term face covering requirement that expired yesterday was prompted by our middle school student's absence due to illness rate of 24.5% on August 23. Our current rate stands at 7.4%.

Our highest student COVID positivity rate to date was in the elementary at 1.8%. Our current district rate is 1.3%.

I informed you Monday evening that based on these protocols the face covering requirement was lifted. The wearing of a face covering is still required when riding on our school buses per federal mandate.

I wanted to thank all who attended our forum on Monday and to those who could not attend who emailed or called.

Thank you and be safe
