After consulting with the Highland District Health Department, the Superintendents from the other Highland county schools, our Board of Education and our administrative team, the following changes will be made for our return to school on Monday August 30:
All students, staff and guests entering Fairfield School facilities will be required to wear a facial covering. If a seated student or staff member can assure a 3 feet space between themselves and other individuals they may lower their Face covering. This includes those who have been vaccinated. This applies to students in grades K-12.
Students will have their temperature checked upon entering the building.
Face coverings will be required at all indoor athletic events. Guests may lower their face covering once seated if they are 3 feet apart from non-family members.
Deep cleaning will occur on a daily basis.
These 4 enhancements to student and staff health precautions are put in place to ensure that Fairfield Schools will stay open. These enhancements will remain in effect from August 30 through September 19. This time window is just 9 school days, after which we will reassess our student and staff absentee rate and determine if we can eliminate these requirements.
The health and safety of our students and staff is our number one priority. While the closure this week helped reduce transmission of the viruses that hit us, there is still substantial community spread. I understand no one wants to wear a face covering, including me, however if we can wear the face coverings for 9 days and implement the other health precautions noted above I believe we can keep our schools open and safe for our children to be here.

Thank you and be safe!
